w163 steering angle sensor reeplacement help please

My BAS/ESP light is on, hooked up star to it and the steering angle doesn't seems proper. codes C1140-08 and -10 were displayed. I did the lock to lock several times but to no avail.

on the Star diagnostics, I turn the wheel to the left, and the numbers go up, then I turn to the right and the numbers go down, then up. Once they went negative other times not negative (all the way to the right).

SO I do some online searching, and I have the steering wheel removed, cluster out, clock spring is out, but having trouble with the combination switch. The documentation shows 2 screws that hold the combo switch in place (number 5), I can only find one in the center, but there is plastic around the head so as to not allow a socket on the bolt head. I FOUND THE SECOND SCREW,,,

I'm under the impression that basically the upper part of the steering column needs to be removed to replace the angle sensor.

On a side note, the brake light switch shouldn't affect the steering angle sensor's readout, should it? Seems to me that replacing the brake light switch would be a whole heck of a lot easier then this buried angle sensor.

Looking at this latest picture of N49, looks to me maybe I can get lucky and simply snp it back together???
