Okay, what's the deal???!!! I just put my first tank of gas into my '99 CLK (I won't even go into what it cost me) and I noticed that the gas gauge was stuck on empty. So I called up the MB service dept. and they said that they're aware of the problem and it's common with all CLK's and that there's currently no fix for it. They said that it's the result of a corrosion on a contact in the fuel tank. Have any of you out there heard of this?

Yes, And they are working on a repair! Just as they said. (The engineers are working on it from what I hear)

There is a repair...and that's to have the tank's sending unit replaced. There is no guarantee this fix will last forever though. I've had my sending unit in my CLK430 changed twice already under warranty. |
