W210 fog light issue

1999 w210
I hit a possum a few months ago and cracked the lower front clip, dislocating the driver side fog light in the process.
i finally got around to replacing the front bumper last weekend and now my fog lights don't operate with the switch.
strangely, they DO still come on as part of the 'illumination' sequence when shutting the car off..... i.e. when you shut the car off and open the door, the parking lights and fog lights come on for 15-20 seconds.
they worked fine before the "incident" and the remaining one still worked up until i replaced the bumper and reinstalled the driver side.
not sure what would cause them do this but maybe someone out there knows.

thanks in advance!

Hi Greg - The W210 light systems are the worst of the last 4 chassis models from the W124 up. First thing I would try is popping the bulb off and then checking the connector then re-plug it in. Always worked for the PITA tail lights which went out constantly - side markers too.
