Climate control

Got a question, I have a new to me 1999 e300, is the climate control suppose to back lit when you turn the lights on? Mine is not, truly a pain if your trying to turn on the front or rear defroster while driving.

Yes, there’s a backlight for the LCD cluster when the car lights are on. There’s a bulb at the bottom of the ACC unit. Use the same tools to pull the radio to pull the ACC unit. Then a quarter turn with a flat blade tip releases the white plastic bulb socket.

The unit that came with the wagon won’t light even with a good bulb. I got a replacement unit at the pick-n-pull and all is well. No programming, no introduction, just plug-n-play.

Curious what yard you found your parts in. I'm about 25 miles from you in Locust Fork.

Something to be aware of when pulling the radio / climate control. When you remove the tools, be sure to hold the button in as you pull the tool out. It is really easy to pull a button off.

For parts, try car-part.com this searches full service salvage yards but not self serve as they don't inventory those cars. Call them directly as e mail usually does not work.

As in the Auto buttons?

Any of the buttons where the tool slides through, I don't recall what they are as I haven't been in the SL or C since early Oct.
