Engine shutting off
Yesterday I drove to Home Depot and when my passenger went to get out of my 1985 380 SL at the front door of the store the engine shut off. I restarted and began looking for a parking space as I was driving through the lot the engine shut down again at this time I also noticed that the horn had stop working. I restarted again with no problem and parked. When I returned to the car and started it the horn was now working and I drove it 10 miles home without incident. Any one have a idea about what is going on with my car.

Just trying to get back to the top for some help.

ezl, c/d box, ignition module. Whatever you want to call the silver box on the l/h fender well. I've seen them quit and restart several times then die for good. There are also several relays in the r/h kickpanel including a OVP that can cause it to quit.
The fuel pump relay is behind the glove box and those will go feet up intermitently as well. I've found running them until they die is the best was to nail a intermitent faulure without test equipment. Joe |
Thanks Joe P, I'll keep all those things in mind and continue to monitor the situation as well as check my renewal date on my AAA. Chris By the way It was very hot and I had been driving the car for a couple hours. Could it be vapor lock?
