E320 M104 air pump hose covered in oil?
I'm trying to pinpoint an oil leak on my 1994 E320 wagon. I was underneath the car last night and noticed that the elbow hose that connects to the rear of the air pump is drenched with oil. I'm pretty sure it is this hose: https://www.pelicanparts.com/more_info/104-141-12-83-mbz.htm
Is there any reason this hose would be leaking oil? Or is it likely that the oil is dripping off of the front corner of the head directly above and covering it in oil? I assume its the latter but was hoping someone could confirm. thanks |

Probably a valve cover gasket oil leak. This isn't hard to change, just be sure the new gasket comes with the round spark plug tube gaskets.

Yeah, I did the valve cover job a few months back. I'll check again but I think it's more likely the timing chain cover. I recently did the chain tensioner so while everything was off the front of the engine I fill that small gap on the passenger side between the cover and the head with permatex. Didn't seem to help in my case.
