Does anyone have a copy of the W124 Bible?

If so, I need some information. In section 5, there's supposedly a procedure on adjusting the fan clutch to get it to lock up earlier. There are a few mentions of this procedure from ~2005 on other Mercedes forums but none actually outline it like the book does and none of the members are still active. Something about drilling a hole and adding a screw in the bimetallic strip. I could buy the book but it's rather expensive and I only need it for this one section.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Posting this to multiple sections for visibility.

The thing that controls the fan clutch operation is the bimetallic strip. Hit the junk yard and just get a bimetallic strip from a 400E or SL500. Those supposedly will flex sooner and allow the silicone oil to flow out and lock the fan up. I don't see how drilling and adding screws will change the temperature at which the bimetallic strip flexes.

It says:

a. Remove bimetallic strip from front of fan clutch.

b. Drill small hole through bimetallic strip and tap for M3 bolt.

c. Screw M3 bolt through strip and preload strip approximately 1 mm (give strip 1mm bow). Use lock nuts on both side of M3 bolt to lock in position.

The 1 mm preload fools the clutch into full couple, while centrifugal disconnect at 3250 rpm still remains.

Thanks all.
I've been wanting to see if I can get my new German-made Behr clutches (I have bought 4 of them in the past year for 4 different vehicles) to perform like the Sachs tropical clutch without having to spend the $200 for a Sachs clutch that may or may not be in stock.

Similar procedure is described here:

Had my friend do the mod on my parent's Sprinter van, he's got to adjust it some but says it seems to work well to get the fan to cut in much earlier and keep temps down and improve AC. I'll get back to you with long-term findings.
