Break booster problem

Hi,
On my 86 300e, w124, I pulled out the break booster, I also removed the break pedal mounting box, to make room to work behind it. Now the booster push rod seems too short. The break light switch is not being pressed.
Has anyone had this problem before that can tell me what went wrong?
Thank you,
Steve

Yes it is. I will just have to take it all apart and find the problem. I was hoping to a avoid that, will have to bleed them again.

I'm an idiot. After removing the booster, and fitting the pedal box directly to the new booster I just bought, the rod was still too short. It turns out to be the switch plunger was stuck down in the switch. The switch still worked with it stuck down. That's another $200 and a day of my life, wasted on this old car.
