Beware eBay A/C Tool Scam
Anyone working on their A/C and think it would be nice to have a hose crimper, watch out for fraudulent listings on eBay. Member's accounts are being compromised and listings for Mastercool 71550 crimpers are showing up at far below the expected price.
From legitimate sellers these tools go for around $200 but the scammers are listing for as low as $23.99 with fee shipping. Don't expect to receive the tool. They usually target member's accounts that have been inactive for a while. If it looks too good to be true----- |
got link?
|
Just search for Mastercool crimper on eBay and you will see them.
They keep changing as eBay removes them but not until dozens of buyers are suckered. No sooner than they are removed, others pop up under another hacked user account. |
That’s so weird. I had the same thing happen to me about 2 years ago. I was purchasing a refrigerator compressor, and this guy had one about $50 cheaper than everyone else. Ended up being a scam.
It happened again to me on some fridge control boards. |
If it seems too good to be true, it usually is.

Exactly. FWIW, I love my Mastercool manual crimper. |
a likely suspect - look at sell - ratings - claims he has been a member sice 2006 |
Checked ebay at 9:15am - no more $25 crimpers. The last sellers id was Jakob587. That id no longer shows up on ebay.
|
They are still showing up.
Same pattern. An inactive account hijacked. Free shipping. Low item price. EBay needs to do something to protect users accounts from being compromised. How many other items are fraudulent such as this? |
Hello E Bay user. During a recent audit we have determined that your account may have been compromised in a recent access attempt.
In order to ensure your continuing safety and to prevent your account from being permanently shut down, please click on one of the links below and change your password. Thank you for continuing to keep E Bay safe. |

and I forgot to point out the eBay listing shows:
"7 available / 8 sold in 24 hours" That indicates 8 people got scammed! |

Deltronicos is still a valid ebay seller however. |
The point of my post 10 is E bay can do little to defend against people that fall for scam e mails.
These e mails tell the user to click on a link in an e mail that appears to be from e bay but is really the scammers site. Once the user enters their user name and password, the scammers use this info to access the account. I'm betting the scammers change the password to prevent the user from quickly regaining control of their account. Scammers probably target low traffic accounts because the users are likely to be less experienced and a high traffic account would notice an issue sooner. |
Theyre Baaack!
check seller meshe_caro listing for $45.99 shipping out of Hong Kong and more than 10 available I searched their contact info and they re (were) located in the US, definitely a hack and will be reported again Lest see how long it takes eBay to sniff them out! |
Ebay's response was:
Thank you for taking the time to submit this report. This information is very important to us, so please be assured that we will thoroughly review it and take action if necessary. If there's a violation, the action we take depends on how it impacts our community. In some cases, we explain the situation to the seller, and the listing will remain on our website. If the item or listing doesn't follow our rules, we may cancel the listing. We may also restrict the seller's buying and selling activities on eBay. To protect our users' privacy, we're unable to share the action we take. Thanks for understanding. Note: You don't need to contact us again. Doing so would create a new report and prolong the process. if more of us reported the item as fraudulent maybe they would act faster. |
just a few hours later and that seller vanished too!
amazing the Cretins keep trying! |
Back again, this time they managed to sell one to some poor unsuspecting buyer!
Still listed as being in Hong Kong but when you look at the seller's ID its a US based person who hasn't had any activity since 2016. Obviously hacked account. DDH |
and again the seller is wiped off!
Gone again! Poof! looks like the eBay reporting feature works, just not as fast as it should be.
I hope the cretins don't read this forum though.... ha! |
Incessant fraudsters on eBay selling Mastercool Crimper
Another fraudulent sale on eBay using the same scheme with ten kits available buy it now at a ridiculous price!
Another listing using another nabbed account, this is still being listed as a Hong Kong seller but the sellers ID darregile-6 shows to be a US based buyer who never sold anything on eBay! Odd thing is though they are selling out of Canada somehow, as indicated by the url I see: Reported as fraud at 11:20PM PST 8/11/18. Lets see how long it stays up. |
wow, 20 minutes later I checked and the listing VANISHED!
Good going eBay! |
They are Baaaack!
now listed 7 separate sales of the Mastercool crimper kits at a mere $58 each.
Using a definitely hacked seller ID wupperkam14 It says sold from Saddle Brook NJ, but if you were to look for shipping it says it will ship from out of the US. Reported all listings at 20:35 8/14 Lets see how long it takes eBay security to catch them this time! |
Ha! They are GONE it took ebay 14 minutes but unfortunately the scammers sold 2 items before I discovered their little fraud.
DDH |
theyre back!
After 12 days or so of no fraudulent listings of the Mastercool crimper kit, I received a alert that there were these listed under $90, the criteria I set for the alert. Bingo! a seller that hasn't sold anything is suddenly dumping these for $25.99 with free shipping! duh! he's shown to be in GA named andrewhall63
I reported the suspect fraudulent listing at 4PM. Unfortunately 4 buyers have bought the kits. Buyer beware, if its too good to be true it probably isn't! |
I was away for about 20 minutes and when I came back I looked and Voila! Listing is GONE!! :D
Oh, and the seller andrewhall63 has also Vanished! poof! THANKS EBAY! |
Another Fraudulent listing!

Hello to my long running thread on the eBy scams listing Coolmaster crimp tool kits.
Somebody pointed out this in the first place so I started reporting the listings to eBay and they promptly (in most cases) remove them! :D I just spotted seller tuffsusan listing these, $25.99 and 3 available with free shipping, consistent with the previous scams (really ! It seems they would set a much more reasonable price, huh?!) One thing I've noticed is these are always listed by some Chinese service, shown as: |
Hooray! nabbed again!!
While I was preparing the jpg of that Chinese service Logo (it wasn't as easy as I thought!) eBay acted on my scam report, just maybe 10 minutes afterwards and the listing is gone! poof!
DDH strikes again! |
Here they go again!
after a few days of no fake Mastercool lisitngs suddeny they are back online!
Seller cool_pinatas out of Dallas, never sold anything only was a buyer. Now why would they be selling these for $42.55 and free shipping? Claims to have more than ten for sale. Reported at 21:50 |
Nabbed again!
took a little longer than before but I came in after about 30 minutes and Poof! gone! Seller is not listed as a valid seller too.
Will these scammers ever give up?:mad: |
Scammers still at it!
Mastercool 71550 kit was listed as sold from Italy by seller fabmilan $17.65 free shipping. Well, it would cost more than that to ship a kit like this from Italy! duh!
reported at 9:50AM lets see how long it takes eBay to remove this one |
this time eBay doesn't respond so I get involved!
This time eBay seems to have fallen down on the job!
I had to leave for an errand and got stuck in traffic (result of 2 car collision! wow) then arrived back at noon and sat down and remembered the scammer listing and checked and was surprised to find it was still listed  At 12:10 I called eBay (not easy to find how to reach them) and got one of their Filipino accent persons. I asked if he was a security expert and he waffled and said they respond to security issues, without saying he was with the eBay security. nevertheless I had to give him the item number and explain, he said it would be reported and he said thanks for calling eBay customer support (that told me he definitely wasn't a security person!) Waiting for lunch I kept refreshing the item on eBay and at 12:20 it finally was gone! Voila! and a quick look for any auctions by fabmilan and now that seller ID is gone too! How stupid is the scammer that they believe people will by something from a foreign country with a price ten percent of the market value for no shipping charge? I'm wondering if this thread will go on forever! |
scammers are back!
Now using seller ID trapp3rb0y_lts
They listed a complete set for $21.56 with free shipping. Any fool can see that's a scam. Reported at 9AM Lets see how long it takes for eBay to dump the listing. |
drove down to the coffee shop for a ten minute break and just came in and VOILA! listing is gone!
good going eBay, get them bad boys! :) |
