Will locks from a w210 work in my w202

I have a 1995 C36 with 3 different keys. It hasn't bothered me enough to pay real money to fix it. However I'm buying a 1997 e320 parts car for a different project and I'm wondering if the locks swap over. Ideally Id swap all of them and if I need anything programmed I do know a guy local to Chicago.

I know nothing about these cars, but if you click on Pelicans catalog up at the top of the page, and then look up new locks for each car, you can compare the part numbers.

My guess after doing that is............maybe........

95 has the antitheft starter interrupt through the IR remote lock system, probably a good idea just to bypass it.

97 has a DAS X system with a RFID chip in the key or fob, this cuts fuel injector pulse.

I'm pretty sure the metal bit is the same between the two. ( Narrow ) I don't have a 97 W210 key handy. I know the 97 R129 has a wide blade.

The 97 W202 and W210 share the same door handle / door lock cylinder, I looked into this to put a real key in the drivers door.

What are you doing with the E320 ?

Thanks for the info. I'm grabbing the engine, transmission, and harness for a c107 I'm swapping. I have a 3.6 that will go in at some point but I figure I'm better off swapping in a complete power train and then improving individual parts. Need anything?

I would have been interested in computers but they need to go with your swap.

We really need to talk about what items and considerations you need to accomplish this swap. I've extensively researched the 97 M104 ME 2.0 / ME 2.1 on the C280 / E320 / S320 and SL320

At some point I plan on using a early R129 SL shell and a 97 E320 power train to build a track day car.

That sounds like it would be a lot of fun. My eventual plan is go stand alone but do get things moving I found this 97 and I know its a good year to do this with the 5 speed auto. Any huge considerations I should be aware of? I was thinking I could basically just swap the whole ecu, harness, ignition assembly, fuel system etc over so the powertain thinks its still in a 97 w210.

All you really need is a wheel speed sense count that the trans computer is expecting.

The 97 gets wheel speed fed to the ABS computer ( bolted to the engine computer in under hood box ) then sends it over the CAN bus to the trans and engine computers. As you said, making the computers think there are still in the E will make this work. If you don't send a wheel speed the computer is expecting, the trans will go into limp and give a gear ratio fault.

There are a few ways to do this. Attach a wheel speed sensor to an electronic speedo ratio adjuster then feed the ABS what it is expecting.

Put a speed sensor on the drive shaft ( some MB have a speed sensor on the differential pinion ) then use the electronic speedo ratio adjuster and feed the signal to the ABS.

With both of these, there is a chance you can adjust tone wheel tooth count to get what you want without the speedo adjuster.

The trans computer should be under the front passenger floor, pull the carpet back and unbolt the floor pan. ( It is there on the C and SL so I'd expect the E top be the same. )

The only other real item you need to make the engine run is the antenna around the ignition lock , key that matches the DAS box and DAS box that matches the engine computer. The DAS box is behind the instrument cluster , left side above the peddle box.

In a 210 the 722.6 TCM is in the engine bay electronics box, second from front. It’s the skinniest module in the mix.
