Window Regulator ?
 

My wife seems to have used the windows too much again since I won't fix the sun roof. The 85 500 sel rear left window seems to be free to move up and down without the help of the motor. The motor runs but the window won't except when done by hand friction. Do I needed to replace the regulator or is their a repair kit to fix stripped gears? I hope to have parts on hand before I get everything torn apart.

Freddie--sounds like the plastic jaw that holds the window to the regulator has broken. I fixed a similar problem. It requires removal of the regulator to get at the jaw. The jaw part itself is very inexpensive. Good luck.
