I have a 1992 190E 2.3 that I am swapping a manual 717.412 transmission into. I have a single-mass flywheel from a 1986 2.3. I also bought a LUK clutch kit for a 1986 car to match the flywheel. Today I tried installing the pilot bearing, and it looks like the OD is too big:
There is some kind of tube adapter at the center of the crank. Do I have to remove it in order to install the bearing? I don't think so because this tube thing centers the flywheel... Did the later cars have a different pilot bearing as the early cars.
I searched a little and apparently the National 202FF bearing is good for all years, but they also say the OD is 1.378" on that one. On the bearing I have, the OD is about 1.75". The store here also lists the same SKF bearing for all years.
