Is Techron available in Canada?

Can't find Techron in Canada. Is there a Canadian equivalent?

yhliem 06-06-2002 09:11 PM

Only at Chevron

ahwe190e 06-06-2002 10:07 PM

Chevron only exists in BC & Alberta. Anyone know of a source in Toronto, Ontario?

yhliem 06-07-2002 12:32 AM

there is none as far as i know because techron was developed by chevron. as far as i know chevron is the ONLY place you can get techron. if you want techron, you'll have to order it directly from chevron.

to my knowledge there is no equivalent elsewhere. sorry :(

Petro-Canada has it's own brand of additive that works much the same. Can't remember it's name off-hand.

I can't find a Chevron station in Alberta, but the 91 Petro-Canada seems to do a great job.

BTW, Canadians should avoid Shell gas at all costs. Shell just admitted that they put a filler-additive int heir gasoline that wrecked thouands of gauge sending units in cars.

I never bought Shell for many other reasons (worst of the worst in human rights in foreign nations) but even I was surprised to find the crap that they've done to Canadian consumers.

It doesn't matter to me that they've "fixed" the "problem" as they ripped off people in the first place. Scumbags that won't get one cent of my money.

Also for us Canucks, Petro-Canada is the only Canadian owned gasoline retailer (fully integrated, actually), so the profits at least stay home.

Good call, John

I forgot about Petro-can's "SuperClean" gas.

Sadly though, I've always had better results with Chevron than with any other gas.

We have been able to buy Techron additive by the bottle at our local Wal-Mart store. Obviously, I don't know if that is possible throughout the Wal-Mart chain, but you may want to take a look.

Good luck.

Petro-Canada uses Tactrol as it's additive but I don't think they sell it separately.

I found a place in Toronto where they sell BG44K instead:

Golden Age Mobile Service
7605 Woodbine Ave., Unit 10
Markham

Tel: 905-415-3619

The distributor for BG44K in Canada is:

Wagonmaster
92 Worthington Ave.
Richmond Hill
Tel: 905-669-7949

Will try BG44K instead of Techron!

go check canadian tire. once a saw they carried the
entire chevron products.

ahwe190e 06-07-2002 02:23 PM

Wow....this BG44K is amazing. I noticed the difference straight away. I drove around for an hour after adding it to the fuel and it runs a lot smoother. Highly recommended! (a tad expensive though - approx. $30 (Canadian Dollars)

yhliem 06-07-2002 04:02 PM

$30 for how much?
i imagine you have to add this stuff each time you fuel up, no?

ahwe190e 06-07-2002 08:05 PM

$30 is for 1 can (pop can size).

No - you do not need to add every tankfull. You only need it when there is a need i.e. to clean out fuel injectors, valves, fuel system, etc.

It improves idling and engine start-up.

yhliem 06-07-2002 08:26 PM

well, for $30/can it had BETTER work! *L*
