1993 300TE did not like the coastal life
5 Attachment(s)
my mother has owned this Monoblock wheeled graphite DOHC beauty for 4 years but moved to the Oregon coast about a year and a half ago. after 6 months of once a week driving 2 windows stopped working, the rear hatch wouldn't open for her and now the heater blower motor has slowed to a snails pace. a loud snail LOL.
I bought her a newer outback that suits her needs better for her climate and have brought the wagon back to its home town of Portland OR. I got the rear hatch opening again. I'm going to remove the door cards and send 20 volts to the window motors which has worked for me in the past with sticky motors but I have never tackled a blower motor in a 124 before. how hard of a job is it? I'm going to part ways with the car once freshened up because I have way to many (SPARE) vehicles LOL recently I Bought my wife a black on black 07 E350 sport I drive a black on black 01 E320 sport, we have a off black on black 87 TURBO with 16" 190E 2.3 Cosworth wheels for our spare and a 82 K5 Diesel for snow and off road, we live in a HOA neighborhood and look like the Mafia house with all these black and graphite MBs. My wife said we are going to be getting a letter soon Attachment 149363 Attachment 149364 Attachment 149365 Attachment 149366 Attachment 149367 |
I personally would recommend taking everything apart and cleaning + lubricating. Sending 20v to power windows may work, but you're just essentially forcing through the problem. Essentially the car was sitting for 6 months in a coastal environment, which means that there is most likely corrosion causing these issues. Take everything apart and remove the corrosion, then lubricate properly to prevent these issues from getting worse down the line.

update
I bought a replacement blower motor and new rear gate struts and sold the car for $1450 to a young couple from Medford OR.
he said he had owned a 92 S124 and wished he hadn't sold it he said he could put the new parts in and was happy with the car. And everyone lived happily ever after THE END LOL |
