E320 ASR defeat??

Does anyone know how to disable ASR and keep it off without disabling ABS?* W124

To completely defeat the ASR (not snow chain button) I made a switch between the ABS and ASR(VDO) ecus comm lines it stores a fault but doesn't go into limp mode.

Oh, nice. Is this on a 6 cylinder that you did this and does ABS still work?

My only car that is equipped with ASR is my 1991 300SL (M104.981) that was originally purchased by my family in NJ. all my other MBs came from different climates where ASR is useless. Assuming your W124 is equipped with the M104.99x it can be done as described.

There was a diagram showing how a ( $$$ ) 1990's era bypass box worked. From what I recall, it triggered the dyno mode each time you started the car. It consisted of a few relays and nothing else.

I'm wondering if your SL has the round diagnostics port. For those there is any easy fix; short pins 1 and 6. I have yet to find a fix for the system in the non V8 w124 chassis.

The Renntech box simply removed the RPM signal to the ASR module thus makes it "think" that the engine is turned.

I am wondering if those instructions are just for V8 models.

The Renntech box is what I was thinking of. Given wire colors are listed in post 7, looking at a vehicle wiring diagram would net what they are doing.

Yes, my 97 C280 / E320 / SL320 have the 38 pin.

I just had an idea,* if I were to provide a constant voltage to the wire that sends the throttle position location signal* to the ASR computer,* the car won't know its accelerating, this might be enough to fool the ASR while still keeping the ABS fully functional.**

That will put you right into limp mode.
