2000 e320 w210 won’t accelerate

My e320 was running great. Let it sit a couple of days and it wouldn’t start. All electrical worked fine. Battery is less than one year old. I put a charger on it and the car started. Now it will only idle, 1000 rpm. If I press the accelerator it begins to surge between 1000 and about 1200 rpms. There is sludge under the oil filler cap but not on the dipstick. Oil change about 9 months ago. No sign of leaks but it is now about one quart low. Engine temp has always been steady at 80 now at idle it goes a bit above that.

have you checked the accelerator pedal position sensor on the shock tower? has the cable to it snapped off - similarly check under the dashboard for the cable connection to the pedal. (mine did that once, the cable was popped off) - car had no error code and a dead gas pedal.

then also check for the check engine light and whatever corresponding error code it has recorded.

the reason its reaching beyond 80C is because its not moving, (no airflow on radiator and the fan will lazily spin when its 95C) - the sludgy mud on the cap is a bit strange, if it were mayo like - then its normal for it when its only been abt 10 minutes after cold start.

If check engine light is on, pull the codes. Sounds like it could the throttle body actuator. I have this exact problem on a E320 I just picked up.
