W126 560 question
Im not quite sure how tech-y this question is, but im looking at an 88 560sel and curious what you guys in the Southeast especially have been paying for a timing chain/guide/sprocket service at a shop? The one im looking at has the odo stopped at 143k and the owner guesstimates around 146k total and no record of the timing chain and guides having been done.

Can't give you a current price, I did mine myself about 17 years ago. Back then it was supposedly a $1,500 job, or something in that neighborhood.

Matt, probably $1,000-$1,200 by a dealer-trained independent shop.

Roger Drew's estimate including replacing the cam oiler fittings. Based on an estimate for a 560SL (same engine).
