M104 egr tube clean out
Doing the head gasket and finding that the egr is pretty gunked up specifically the ss tube from the egr to the throttle actuator. It has a lot of tight bends in it. I don’t think I can get a speedo cable snaked through it. Would soaking it in gasoline overnight then blast some compressed air through it be enough? Anyone have any crafty ideas?

I soaked the end of the tube which is the part that gets gunked up with this MEK substitute and it was able to soften up the junk and get it clean.

I disconnected both ends, the crqp was at the manifold end.
Soaked it for a couple of days, then chucked a speedo cable in the drill and cleaned out the tube. Still good nine years later..... Jim

I soaked it with floor stripper then ran a long zip tie through it. Confirmed it was clear by blowing air through it.

It's been reported that most of the deposits form immediately adjacent to where it connects to the throttle, if that helps.

I have had excellent luck in cleaning such equipment like egr tubes, bmw pair valves egr valves with mopar combustion chamber cleaner.
The trick is to get the part a bit warm first (like a small oven). Then spray it in a ventilated area. It literally melts carbon off. |
