w124 wagon rear ride height issue

Hey guys

I have replaced the spheres and put in a used self level valve. However, the ride height is still not adjustable. Nor does the car raise back up to normal*with added weight. Any troubleshooting ideas here?

Thanks

Send a PM to member JollyRoger054. He's knows a lot about your problem, espec wagons. He did the nitrogen spheres on one of my cars and just last week we were texting about SLS maintenance.

If he doesn't respond to your PM than PM me and I'll give you his number. He's a good dude.

If the valve isn't leaking and the spheres are new, you're only left with a weak or fully failed tandem pump (drives power steering and the SLS).

Is your PS fluid dark/black/cloudy? Is your SLS fluid black even after the accumulator, valve, and fresh fluid replacement? If yes, the pump is mixing the fluids internally and needs to be repaired or replaced.

They're available rebuilt from the usual sources (Pelican, arizona haus, etc). I don't think there are reseal kits available off the shelf.

Disconnect the valve adjustment rod and move it back & forth between "fill" and "empty" with the engine running. If the height still doesn't change, you have an issue with the used valve, or the pump, or a blocked line.
