Inexpensive Diag scanners and the 38-pin connector on a '98 E430

Recently replaced the conductor plate and connector plug. I need to clear the codes to get the car out of limp mode, the shop wants 100$. However If I could buy an inexpensive scanner to keep it with me it would be useful as opposed to pay a shop.

Any ideas?

I don't own one yet, but am planning to purchase this soon:

I don't think any of the cheapo OBD scanners will do what you need.

I bought one of the higher end harbor freight scanners for about $180. I got no complaints
