17" on w202 c 230 will this work

on my 1998 c230 I just installed new 17 " rims with new 225/45/17 toyo tires , the tires were rubbing on the inside front plastic cover when I went backwards with the steering wheel all the way on the left or right, i pushed the plastic forward and the tires are not rubbing any more (or at least I can't hear it), now i have the H&R springs but I am afraid to install them because I am not sure if that will work, I mean the tires were rubbing with the regular springs , maybe the tire size is too big (225/45/17)
anyone tryed that before , or any suggestions
any help would be appriciated
thanks

I ran 17x8" wheels with 225/45-17 tires, and had the same rubbing you described.

I learned not to use full lock when reversing.

However, lots of people use a mild lowering spring with this combination, and it works okay. I would recommend a 7 or 7.5" wheel, and watch how low you go. My car has the AMG "middle" suspension which has a very mild drop (just under an inch) and the rubbing wasn't any worse after installation.

But, the H&R springs have a rep for being VERY low. You may have to make further mods...

Yes the tire size is too big and no your car will never be the same.
Bye, Bye sweet MB.
