Mentioned earlier: Infamous vacuum leak

I forgot who and the post where somebody mentioned that one infamous reason for vacuum leaks was because of something that the vacuum lines goes into right in front of the left strut mount in the engine bay...



Was that person refering to the lines going into something in the fenderwall where the red line in the right of my picture above points? If so, how do you test to see what was wrong with it or the hosing to it?

My econometer is usually in the 1/4 area while idling, sometimes it moved almost all the way to the left when warmed up, but it varies.

(hopefully somebody understood all of this )
