300CD Tranny Life

Looking at a 300CD with 144K miles, nonturbo. I hear varying things about these transmissions, some having them fail at 160K and others having up to 400K on the original box. If I have 144K on this 300CD, if the car had been maintained properly, how much mileage should I expect out of this automatic tranny? Many people seem to replace them when the problems are associated with vacuum/bowden problems. Can I expect 300K out of the original box? Are they generally good transmissions? Thanks
