124 radio power problem 1987 300d

Ok, when I close the driver door, the radio goes off. It is due to the lower of the two pillar switches. I can't seem to find a diagram on here so as to trace the problem. Any ideas? I'm not even sure what the switch is for, alarm, I assume?
