Auxillary Fan Frustrations: 300D w124

I noticed that my left aux fan works and my right does not. Fuses are good and the fan spins freely. I found an electrical conection behind the left front headlight- this looks good too. Where do I begin to trouble-shoot? Thanks for the input.

tkamiya,

Thanks for the reply. I am quite the novice when it comes to electric issues. I found only one line to the fans while everthing is still together. Do I need to take the assembly appart to find the seperate connections and test seperately? Where and how do I test with 12V? I am here to learn and promise to take and post lots of pictures...

Been there, done that.

My 190e had the same problem. On mine the fans are connected in parallel, they should both be doing the same thing at the same time. Each had its own connector clipped behind and near the bottom of each headlight. Just unplug them and put 12v or so to them. Don't worry about polarity, if you get it backwards the fan will just spin backwards. I would suggest using a battery charger, its safer than using a 1000 A (when shorted) battery.

I fixed my bad fan, just took it apart and found one of the brushes got stuck.

Thanks guys. It looks like I will have to disassemble the unit to test. I will let you know how it goes.

Well, I have begun removing the aux shrowd, it is more difficult than I thought. Do I need to remove the radiator and condensor to get the shrowd out?
