Anyone know when, in terms of which year, Mercedes turbo diesels became computer controlled?

Mercedes-benz star the EDS system from 1986
in usa.

Starting in 1984 on California models there is a EDS control system. The computer didn't do much on diesels until 1991, since then it has gained control over the engine & fuel systems.
