Ml 320

I have just bought a 2000 ml320 and I would like to add the navigation system to the vehicle. My local dealer has given me a price of $1550 plus tax for the parts not including a CD and this is more than I want to pay. Is it possible to buy the kit at a discounted price from somewhere?
I am also wrestling with whether I should buy a 5 year 150,000 mile diamond warranty from Warranty Gold for $2480.00. My vehicle has 38,450 miles on it. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Roger,
RE: extended warranties, I don't know about the specific company you're referring to but in general extended warranties are a very good idea on late-model MBs due to the significant cost of electronic parts especially. I had a GE extended warranty on mine, up to 70,000 miles, and got more than my money's worth out of it.

RE: the navigation system, if you don't get any replies on this you might want to re-post with a more specific subject line.

Check out the specifics on that warrenty but it sounds like a good deal. I just bought one for my 98 e430 which brings me up to 100K for 4 years for the same price. I have a $50 deductable for each repair and bought it from a company. ( not through my dealership). I wouldn t own a newer Benz without coverage.

Had one for my 300E some years back, and it paid for itself in one repair (lost the A/C evaporator back then). There were other non-related repairs that were necessary then, and the total bill came to $2800. I was only out the $250 deductible, far less than the hit I would have taken otherwise...

The dealer here charges $100/hr for labor, and with most newer MBs, there are ancillary processes necessary to get to the offending part, including diagnosis. So a $300 part can take nearly a full work day to troubleshoot and install, and you can wind up with a bill of $1000+!

So the warranty can easily pay for itself with just a couple of repairs. Cheap insurance, I think. :)
