Where Does This Fiber Optic Wire Go?
1986 420SEL
Working behind the climate control panel/switches and there is one fiber optic wire coming off the octopus/spider that I cannot figure out where it's supposed to go/connect. All the switches have their fiber optic wires in place, with no empty holes. The rear dome light switch has one fiber optic wire, the antenna switch has two, the air recirculation switch does not have one (no hole), and the rear window defrost switch has one. These are all OK and attached. There are also 3 bundled fiber optic wires going to the vents above and they are also in place. The one fiber optic wire that is just hanging there (see photo), with seemingly nowhere to go, is coming out of the same port on the octopus/spider as the fiber optic wire going to the rear window defrost. They share the same port. I cannot figure out what this fiber optic wire is supposed to plug into. Everything already seems to be plugged in but why would there be an "extra" fiber optic wire? Doesn't make any sense to me. Any help I can get is greatly appreciated. If someone could produce a clear diagram showing where all the fiber optic wires that come off the octopus/spider go, that would be great. Thanks Last edited by brookmp; 02-01-2021 at 01:58 PM. |

Emergency (4-way) flasher switch.
In 560s, bi-level horn switch. |

Thanks for the reply. When you say emergency flashers, are you talking about the red hazard switch? If so, there isn't a hole for the fiber optic wire. Could it be something else?
