Fuel Pump cover - missing?
1 Attachment(s)
Hi All, just picked up a ‘91 560SEC and as I was peeking under, I noticed this - it looks like a cover is missing, based on the holes. Am I correct? Where can I source one? Thanks
|
i just put 2 fuel pumps on a 420. nothing is missing from your picture.

Actually there is a small cover but most cars are missing it including mine. I will try and find a part number for it
|
Thank you!

part number for the small cover: 1264780237

i've worked on these, on and off, since 1988. never seen it before. somehow, it looks like a bath for the pumps if it filled with water. maybe why i 've never seen it.

Reminds me of what I was told the difference between a mechanic and a technician was. "A mechanic replaces all the heat shields, brackets and spacers, a technician doesn't need all those parts".
Yup, there should be a plastic cover over the fuel pump. It is a accumulator for road grime and gunk so it was probably discarded at some distant time when the fuel filter was replaced. |
When I bought my 300SE literally every single cover or heath-shield was missing, including the protection around the central locking vacuum pump in the trunk...

Thanks all, appreciate the help. Since its a CA car and likely will not see much rain anyway, I will try and source it here.
