I have a 99 E300TD, 06 CL55 AMG, and my dad has an 06 SL500 that'll probably eventually come to me. Anywho, which of the Star systems from China do you guys like for advanced code reading (my OBDII reader I can buy licenses for to do services with doesn't even offer a Mercedes license), Rodeo tests for when I want to service my own ABC suspension, and various other features so I can service my own cars?

I recently picked up a Foxwell NT510 Elite for my Honda and later added the Ford Module (and will probably add the Hyundai module). They also have a Mercedes module. In a quick google for reviews it seems to be decent for Benzes. YMMV

I recently purchased the same Foxwell for my W211 based on recommendations from this forum and am very pleased. It can do active tests and has yet to leave me wanting more. I'm sure STAR is better but i only paid ~$150 for the Foxwell.

You can buy a Xentry for $600 to $1500. It's the closest thing to a factory scanner. I just bought an updated one for $850. The only thing that I haven't been able to do, is coding on the 722.9 transmissions. A few of the techs that I know at one of our local MBZ dealers say that they have them in the shop and use them all the time. I guess they're easier to use and they still support HHT-WIN for the older cars unless it's running windows 10.

I wish I would have known this before purchasing the Foxwell 510elite.
It is a great scanner for most Merc models but any that use the 28 pin conn.
like my W210 it cannot access any systems period. They sell a 28 pin adapter
but it does not work with 510elite as you need the type of duplex adapter coming from the scanner like the 530 (same software) as 510elite and around same price. The foxwell scanners have 2 way communication that makes it

more like the very expensive scanners and in my opinion better than others like icarsoft. (I also have MBII icarsoft and the 28pin adapter but it lacks 2 way communication of Foxwell).
So overall Foxwell 530 or 520 with 28 pin adapter should do the trick for all of your Mercedes....
On a side note i just purchased the GM software for my 510elite for $80 bucks, and it covers thousands of GM's including 2021 models.
Hope this helps I know how you feel I spent lots of hours doing research and still should have gotten a different Foxwell model.

Paul, The Foxwell NT510Elite was able to do coding for the 722.6 in my '02 C320. I was able to access the TCM, remove parameters do a drive cycle to input correct parameters. A bit of a long process but it worked in the end and saved me a lot more $ than the price I paid for the scanner.

Benzone. You're right about the 722.6. I've been using the xentry at my shop for years on the six series along with coding SAMs, instrument clusters, etc. It does just about everything a factory unit does. In my previous comment, I was referring to the 722.9 7 speed.

Yes they tightened things down on the later models, the 722.9 definitely cannot be field coded with a cloned Xentry as it requires a connection back to home base before it will proceed. Which you can’t do with the clone systems. If you let one of these see the internet Bosch will do a seek and nuke on the system and brick it.
