'87 560sl w/ A/C Leak Need Dectection Advice
I know I need to put dye into the system to detect the leak. Only dye I can find now is with 134a. Where can I get dye for R12 system that will also charge my system so i have pressure to find the leak? Have R12 & R134a guages.
Thanks, Steve |

Soapy water?
Honestly, my experience is the compressor seal with most leaks. All freon would have been lost if there is pin hole in the system. Also look for oily patch on any A/C hardware. One thing you can try is to hook up the gauge, pour some dye in the low pressure/charge hose, close the fill valve and let system sucks the dye in. Disclaimer: have not done this myself.

You can buy just the dye liquid, and do like ah-kay suggested.
