MB R170.1999.Where Is the Location Of The Reversing Light Switch ??
 

When Reverse Gear is selected, the clear lens Reversing Lights do not work.
Have checked the bulbs all OK

I want to check the operation of the Reversing Light Switch but I do not know where it is located ??
Could anyone help pse and advice as to its removal and replacement ??

Just to add this R170 refers to a 1999 SLK 230 Kompressor hence othe MB using this chassis may well be able to help me with an answer to my question ?

same problem with my w140, bad gear selector. I will hook up toogle switch, and mount super brite, lamp. as puny reverse lite's really never helped

Try looking in the shifter mechanism. That is where it is in the W210s of that same era.

Had the same problem with my W210, had to open up the selector, pull the contact cartridge, carefully burnish (with a business card) and slightly bend the contact leaves to get it working again.
