Hi,
Thanks for the helpful info here. I am able to locate the pre-wired CD changer cable in the trunk of my 1996 C280. If anyone here need more details, I can e-mail you some photos about where the cable is located. Now I am going to order cable adapter and Alpine changer from www.autotoys.com . Are they legitimate online retailer? Anyone has good/bad experience with them? From the drawing diagram at Alpine official web site, it seems Alpine mounting bracket won't mount in the MB factory CD mounting area which is right behind the right tail light and beside the battery. I prefer not to mount the changer under the deck of rear window as I have seen from some installers' web sites. Can I get the mounting box from MB dealer or any other suppliers? Best regard, -Ming- |
The cd wire is locate at right rear of trunk
behind the carpet...the installation kit is available at you Mercedes dealers. |
Thank you for the quick reply. I got several inquiries about the photos. I will finished up the roll of film this weekend and post the web address for the photos of the cable location next Monday or Tuesday. The cable is behind the cardboard covering the rear right wheel wall on the right side of the trunk. I have to unscrew some fixing and loose the cardboard to see it. It is hidden behind the cardboard, and a bit awkward to access it. I also check with MB dealer about the installation kit to mount the CD changer next to the battery in the trunk right behind right tail light. It costs about 68 plus tax. Hope this will help.
