Anyone ever open up or rebuild a Klima relay? W126
Found a rebuilt one at a Star advertiser that was a lot less expensive than new .... question is, how complex are Klimas and how hard are they to rebuild?
I will likely open my old one up, but if it is rebuildable/repairable, perhaps I should just give it a shot. On the other hand, if it is really complex, I should just skip it ... Comments? Thanks! |
I have a practically a new one. I used it once on my 560 SEL only, to find out it was a fuel pump failure. Let me know if you are interested.

I have rebuilt many myself. They usually contain off the shelf components and are generally very "low tech". The biggest problem that I have seen is the fact that they use single sidded printed circuit boards. Vibration usually causes the solder joints to fail on the heavier components on the board such as relays and the like. Usually a good re-soldering will solve most of the problems. If they would have plated the thru holes the reliability and long term life of MB electronice would be much better.
Pop it open and have a look, you have nothing to loose. |
s60,
Part number on mine is: 00354512605 ... can you check yours? If it is a fit, how much would you want for yours? I would like to fix the one I have (therapy!), but it might not make much sense. Thanks for information from everyone. |
