W201 Power Steering Fluid..post 87

Been look for a solution to PS Fluid For my 87 190D. ATF is listed pre 86..A friend replaced his fluid with a Febi product and with in 2 weeks, it was leaking. Disassembled the pump and all the rubber was harder than a woodpeckers lips. Pentosin keeps popping up as a replacement. Going to start this process this week, any suggestions? Btw I searched and most of the info was very old.

I doubt the Febi PS fluid hardened the seals in two weeks, IMO they were already bad. I'd be satisfied with either Febi or Pentosin. Change the filter and any hoses that are questionable at the same time.

I think I used Mobil 1 ATF on my '91 and '93. Would do reservoir only fluid changes about once a year, it always looked good.
