W211 acceleration blues

Hey folks,
I'm a semi-regular on the 911 forum but this is my first post here. I have a 2006 E350 that is having some low-speed acceleration issues. It is hesitating when pushed past idle speed. It almost feels like a miss but there are zero codes in the system.
If the car had a carb, I'd probably say it was dirty fuel or crap somewhere in the system. With EFI I am a bit lost. Does it make sense to start with the fuel filter and work my way forward? If yes, does anyone have a good fuel filter R&R guide?
Thanks guys!

How many miles on it?

A. Remove plastic cover
B. Disconnect fuel hoses at filter
C. Disconnect sensor
D. Remove three fasteners holding filter bracket down
E. Remove allen head securing band of bracket
F. Remove old filter, it will be full of fuel
G. Install new filter in bracket, fill with fresh fuel. Personally I fill em with brand name diesel additive.
Rest is just reinstallation.

Make sure you fill new filter up.

Sorry, 220k.
Refill the filter with fuel huh? Ok, assuming so there is no air gap in the line?

Dangerous to assume all W211's are diesels. OP has an E350 which is an M272 gas engine.

LOL, oh, thanks. Yes, my comment is regarding the v6 turbodiesel engine.
