2019 C300 Maintenance DIY Questions
I need to do some maintenance on my C300 and it has 38k miles on it.
I need to change the battery (getting a light to charge it). Mercedes says ‘No let me do it as the system is to complicated and you may mess it up’. Me do it or let MB? Spark plugs. Me do it or MB? The A/C Blower Motor Fan. Me do it or MB? I can change my own air filters. That one I do know. I also need tires. Looking for All-weather versions. Suggestions? |

If you feel comfortable with a wrench in your hand you should be able to do all the jobs you have listed. The ac blower fan will be the hardest ONLY because you have to work under the dash (I'm assuming it is like all the others). Straight forward job but it is hell on my back.

Blower motor's a pain to replace. Might be worth the MB service fee.

The front SAM should have the battery charge throughput reset after a battery change in that car.

Thanks everyone!
So i have been watching several videos on what I'm trying to do. I definitely think i can do the jobs stated, however, as duxthe1 showed there are things to reset. Are there others in my list i should reset? I also saw that the aux battery should be replaced (may just want the money!--lol) when doing the battery (fuse #448 (?) may blow when replacing it. This was per FCP. Is the battery a Lead Acid or AGM? The MB battery has lasted just a little over 5 yrs and am considering buying another since most batteries i've owned only lasted 3 yrs or so. While i am possibly doing the aux bat I can replace the blower fan motor. so i guess that's a plus. Again thanks for the help! |

The car had to be taken in. Apparently there's some switch in the software that says when you get a new battery you must reset it (somewhere) or it’ll (aux battery/alternator?) send more juice to the battery causing it to overcharge it and therefore shorten the life of the battery or out right cause damage to it.
Bottom Line is that it is not straightforward anymore. I could find this nugget anywhere online. I wonder if people know this? Anyways just an FYI. Still have the other things to do. |

First time ever heard that. I know you do have to register battery in BMW, not MB.

Yes that’s what they told me. That’s an independent as well. Mercedes said they had to mess with software too.
