W123 230TE - Exhaust Manifold and Header Pipe
1985 MB 230TE, 123.283, M102.980
Would like to remove the exhaust manifold together with the header pipe - by removing only the manifold nuts and also undoing the header-to-central muffler double pipe connection. Anyone done it like that? Is there enough clearance? |

Is there a reason you don't want to remove the manifold separately? The usual method is to remove the entire exhaust, with header, after removing the manifold. Is the manifold stuck to the header? Your proposed way seems very difficult, if possible.

On this car - 123.283, it's very easy to separate the the header from the rest of the exhaust system. Just 4 easy to reach bolts on two flanges.
I would like to remove the manifold and the header as one unit - if there is clearance to do it. Nothing is stuck. I am not removing the rest of the exhaust. |
