1988 300 SE fuel system issues.

Hello. I’m going to look at a 1988 300 se with 170,000. The owner said it has fuel system issues. I have dealt with a a few things on my R107 over the years. Is there anything that is common in the 300 SE? Also, is there anything in general I should be aware of with this car? Thanks.

Make sure the idle speed is correct. Fuel issues; check the pump, gas filter, etc. With 170,000 the suspension will need attention, if not addressed already.

View the "fuel system" as two sections: 1) The fuel supply components - tank, pump(s), filter, accumulator, lines, pressure regulator. 2) The fuel metering components - air meter, fuel distributor, nozzles.

Try to determine, first, if the fuel supply parts are functioning. If they are, then the metering can be addressed.
