tranny shrapnel
1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,
I was doing a service on my little brothers w201. Found this in the pan. Looks like springs, pins or maybe bearings, bits of a casing of some kind maybe? Weird thing is that it was driving shifting fine, just had a very weak reverse which I am assuming this had something to do with. What do you all think? Hes on a budget and I am sure would not want to pony up for a new tranny. Put it back together and pretend I didnt see it? Of course, ticking time bomb... |
I luv yer ID & the title. But fer realz?

100% Insidious.. Update on the tranny situation. I figured since there were chewed up springs in this shrapnel, figured it came out of the valve body... and since it was functioning as it was, I went ahead, held my nose and put it back together and it shifts way nicer than it was before the fluid and filter change. This car is just for a to and fro work commuter so it wont be the end of the world if he gets stuck roadside somewhere in town. Time will tell.
