transmission fluid change - E450 W213 (2019)

Looking for direction for changing the transmission fluid and filter of the W213 with M276 (Transmission: 725-270-46-18-87)

The Mercedes dealer (parts department) shared that the filter is integrated in the transmission pan. Cool.

How do I get things out and replaced?

many thanks

LOL, man are you in for a rude awakening on transmission fluid change on the 725 transmission. The pan and filter are all one piece. You have to fill it thru the drain hole using special adapter. To set level you have to get it to x degrees, put overflow pipe at pos 3, allow excess to run out then button everything up. The set temperature varies based on model application which, in my opinion, is not a good idea. Kinda a pia to service this one.

Wow - again - temperature control....
Getting it warm was all I did with a W210 chassis (Transmission - 722.6)

Your comment:
"The set temperature varies based on model application" really? How much difference does a few degrees make? (I know. ask the Mercedes engineer....)

I've got a spec sheet hanging in shop I use. I don't remember specs but IIRC the fairly new GLS set temperature was 58dC, the new E class was 45dC. Don't hold me to those numbers but you get the idea.

I wish they all still had dipsticks for engine oil and transmission.

Is there a drain bolt? Basically, how do I drain the transmission?
And do I fill it from underneath the car.

The Filter is in the replacement pan.

Where does the overflow item fit?

You fill it thru the drain plug. Do youtube search on service of MB 725 transmission. It is kinda hard to explain what is required to fill it and set level.

I did the trans fluid change on my 2019 E300 / W213 back in OCT 2023 - car is still going strong. As noted the trans filter is integrated into the trans fluid pan.

there is a special tool that enables you to drain the old fluid out / fill the pan with new fluid / and fill the fluid till it is full - the fluid will overflow and excell fluid will drain out.

you need a pump to fill the fluid - Amazon has several models... also need a infrared temp sensor to measure correct fluid temp [39C] / think I bought 10L of fluid cause I also changed the torque converter fluid // need a good selection of Torx need a shallow /low profile T10 / I got a T10 wrench /

One of my unforcasted issues was supporting the transmission when I had to remove the trans support bracket - to permit removing a couple of pan torx... I used a bottle jack with wood chocks

again - You tube is your friend

you tube has several excelllent DIY videos..

Kimlangley you put it into position 3 to allow excess to drain off when you reached your set temp of 39dC?
