Valve cover sealant m273
What sealant does MB recommend for this? Im seeing a lot of these with glooped on black rtv and of course leaking.
As these covers are also the cam bearings im going to assume that this area needs a zero clearance sealant to ensure the bearing clearance remains constant. Any insight? |

MB sells a gray sealant that they get good money for. You can use Loctite 5970 to do the same thing.

On reading all spec sheets and also consulting a few engineer level guys, they all said fhat any silicone sealant will upset the clearance unless there are channels to allow squeeze,
Welp! Looks like Im gonna guinea pig this CLS and use some anaerobic and see if it holds. And use the toyota 103 sealant on the other cover. (Have a dozen of those tubes) |

I was under the impression that the Toyota sealant (gray) is same as the Loctite too. May be wrong though.
