2005 E320 CDI ABS/ESP Code
I am getting an ABS/ESP code on my 2005 E320 CDI. My scanner listed codes for the left front sensor and SBC related issues, even though MB replaced the SBC about 3000 miles ago. I could erase the codes and everything would be fine for a few days. Now, the codes come back immediately! I have replaced the sensor with a new one, but no joy! The cruise does not work with the codes and the steering is stiff from take-off. There is no check engine light.
Any help would be awesome! Richard |
The SBC has a 25-year unlimited mileage warranty. One of my '06 E320CDI's has had to go in twice for two separate problems about three years apart. MBUSA paid for the whole thing both times, including the tow from my house to the dealership. They don't "replace" the SBC, they diagnose it and fix whatever is malfunctioning.
HOWEVER, the big red stop sign came up on the dash display and the braking function was severely reduced both times my SBC malfunctioned, so if this isn't happening on your car, it might not be covered by the warranty. What specific codes are you getting and what device are you using to read them? |
Scan for code. Typically ABS and ESP lights are tripped if the brake switch is faulty, at least on the earlier cars with the 722.6. The codes will tell you if your problem is related to SBC and if they are, do not clear the code because the dealer will need it if they're to fix it under warranty.

I just re read the OP's post. What are your exact SBC codes?
