AC just stopped working

W140 96 S500

My AC quit while I was driving. Just was cooling away and then the fan just stopped blowing.

I checked the fuses, seem fine.

I then turned on the engine and set on the defroster. I had heard that this turns on all the blowers(might be incorrect). Anyway, nothing, nada, zilch. No blowers come on.

Possible places to start please.

check your ignition switch, try to move it while the car is runinig
see if your blower kicks back on, that is what i do on my car. let me know if that works

one more thing did you check the blower motor fuse it is not in
the fuse box( 25amp fuse on my car it is next to the fuse box by it self)

Checked the ignition switch. No problem there. I can't find a seperate fuse location. On my Car, the main fuse box is on the driver's side by the firewall. I don't see any other fuse locations outside or near this fuse box.

There is no fuse in the main fuse box nor aux box in the trunk that is labeled about an A/C blower. All the labeling talks about is climate control(2 or three times mentioned on seperate fuses).

I did take all the covers off and found the blower motor. There looks like a blower regulator on top of the blower(screwed on), but the number on it doesn't match any controller number I've seen on Fastlane or Partshop for a blower controller, though it looks like pictures I've seen. This one has a funny number and it's made in France.

Thanks for the help so far. Any other ideas?

A/C stopped working

Ken,
I just experienced a similar situation on my '85 SEC.
The fuse "looked" good, but it had a bit of corrosion.
I think it was fuse #11 or #16.
I simply rotated it in it's holder, and it started working.
Once I got home, I replaced the fuse.
Good luck, John F.

A/C fixed

Well, I almost did it myself, but I didn't. The diag was correct. Bad regulator. Fastlane had one for 250.00 but I wasn't sure so I took it to my Indi, and $350.00 later the regulator replacement is doing the job. I also pulled most of the cowling off when I started trying to fix it myself, and the charcoal filter was a mess, so I had them replace it as well. Again, I should have done that myself and saved a hundred, but its all done and working now. These posts actually do work so follow their advice.
