yet another AC question.... ;)
Does anyone have a set of AC manifold guages for R12 that I could borrow/buy/rent? Need to charge my AC...I'm tired of sweating! :)

If you were closer I would offer my gauges for your use. There is good news though. You can go to any refrigeration supply house and buy a set of gauges and hoses cheaply. The same manifold and hoses are used on home R22 systems and are much less expensive than an r134 set.
I also would expect this to be a common flea market item. Find the manifold set, then buy new hoses at the refrigeration supply house. I blew one of my 25 year old Yellow Jacket brand hoses and went to the local supply for replacements. They now have over double the burst pressure and about 66% higher working pressure. Same brand as 25 years ago. Worth the money. Best of luck, |
As with anything, you can get tham at eBay. Used r12 gauges are cheaper to come by than r134 gauges. Fewer people - especially DIYers - charge with r12 anymore.

Even 8 or 10 years ago, when both were in great demand, R12/22 gauges were much less expensive. You don't have to have the couplers etc. and they are an older product with tooling paid for. I still say they should be easy to come up with.
Good luck, |
acsource.com has a very nice new manifold guage set with very good hoses for only $56.75. You can use this same gauge set for R12 or R22, also R502 if you ever work on an ultra deep freeze.
Good luck, |
Harbor Freight- $29.99
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=1504 "Priced for immediate disposal!" Gotta love their hype... |
Thanks Larry, and everyone else. :) That Harbor Freight price sounds pretty good, I think I'll investigate that first.
Much appreciation, Mike |
