M Series Technical Publications
Hi,
I am new to the world of Mercedes Benz with a 1998 ML320. Are there any workshop manuals or other technical publications on CD available for the M series? Thanks. Alex Lynch |
The ONLY printed literature is the Electrical wiring diagrams, every thing else is ON the WIS system!!
|
I am also new to MB terminology. What is the WIS system?

That's the Workshop Information System, it's how most of the info on the newer models is made available now. WIS is available to the general public but is super expensive. Monthly updates and all that stuff has to be subscribed to. What kind of info are you looking for?

Initially, general information to be able to perform my own maintenance such as filter replacement, fluid replacement, torque values and so forth. I have owned an E32 BMW for the last six years and performed all the maintenance work myself. This included the normal items plus other not so regular parts like fuel pump, radiator, water pump, driveshaft, suspension components, cylinder head gasket, and A/C retrofit. The list sounds horrendous but these are typical "consumables" on an E32. I just want enough information to be able to diagnose and repair problems without having to drive to the dealer every time.

Sorry Alex, MB doesn't publish "M" class info for anyone.
Maybe someone like Bentley will jump in & do a M-class book. |
For now of course you can post questions over at the ML, G Wagen, and Unimog forum for questions.
On basic maintenance info, you could also order Maintenance Manual #4 from Mercedes directly, this cover all the service specs and job descriptions for all the maintenance jobs you need to do. Gilly |
