You mentioned the "green wire's" to the distributor, that is the control line, pull the plug from the distributor, use an ohm meter and check the reading on the distributor terminals, its supposed to be 600+- 100 ohms, if the nominal value is attained renew the green control line (which is suspect) if not, renew the distributor. There are some other checks that can be done, try the above first.
