'91 190E 2.3. Most of the time, when starting the engine, it rocks back and forth with a clunking sound, then purrs along fine. Noise and vibration while driving is very low for a four, and not a problem (though perhaps more than when new).

According to the 13mm bolthead test, the motor mounts need replacement, but I wonder if the 'bumpy' startup is more indicative of another problem, such as pressure leakdown? Running seems fine, with somewhaty erratic idle at times, and rarely, - a stall.

Should I look for other problems before replacing the motormounts, or is the engine shaking - that bottoms OURS out - normal when starting?
