My 300E has made a strange noise for quite some time now, and it seems to be from around the front left suspension. It occurs only when going at parking lot speeds and when turning or braking at these speeds. My mechanic says it is nothing to worry about, just old bushings and that they are not bad, just noisy. Is this right? I know it is not the struts, because I just put new Bilstein HD's on it. Also, if an answer if found, how much would it possibly cost to fix? Thanks a million!

Also check the sway bar bushings. They are not too expensive to replace if faulty.

My '86 300E made a strange squeeking noice, most noticible at slow speeds, from the right rear. I could replicate by pressing down on the right rear as if testing the shocks. The bushing needed replacing. It was pretty embarrassing going into the parking garage at work....it attracted the wrong kind of attention to my MB!
