420 SEL and ABS brakes
Did the 420's come with ABS brakes or was it optional???

my 86 Euro 500 Se has them I think 87 was the first year for the American SEL's could well be wrong.....

Actually, model year '86 was the first year for the 420SEL in the US; the M-B website only has full specs back to '88, so I do not have official confirmation that the pre-'88 cars (i.e., '86 and '87 models)had ABS, but I would suspect they did.

My 85 500SEL (US) has ABS, which was the precursor to the 420/560 engines in the states.
